Sierra de Baza National Park
North east of Granada lies the Sierra de Baza national park covering nearly 54,000 hectares, landscaped with steep pine-clad slopes with rocky formations to the higher ground.
There are several abandoned hamlets scattered through the area and numerous walks signposted for ramblers.
Best access from the A92 at either Gor or Baza exits.
Remote snow covered peaks (in winter)are home to majestic birds of prey, including the golden eagle.
There is a good choice of local accommodation and camping is allowed(with permission) in the winter(Nov-May)
For nature lovers there is an abundance of both flora and fauna with over 100 varieties of each.
There are seven signposted walks, 3 quite short ones for amateurs with many more options to the more adventurous.
